108 Sun Salutations for Summer Solstice!
Where: Sitka Yoga Studio in Hoquiam
When: Friday, June 27th, 6:30 – 8:30 (yes, it is not on the exact Solstice Day but the portal of the solstice will still be open!)
The number 108 is considered by many to be sacred: Mala prayer beads are strung in groups of 108; there are 108 Upanishads, the sacred Vedic texts; and the average distance of the Sun and the Moon and the Earth is 108 times their respective diameters. Yogis often practice 108 Sun Salutations at a time of celebration, changing of seasons or to mark a point of rebirth – such as the summer solstice.
As your summer gets busy, why not carve out some time to recommit to your yoga practice, health, and well-being? Challenge the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of your practice as you move through nine rounds of twelve sun salutations, with time and space built in for rest in child’s pose, to gather your energy or re-focus your mind. This is an intense experience and participants will be encouraged to listen to their own bodies and breath, and to make the experience their very own.
After a rainy winter, celebrate the Summer Solstice with Sitka Yoga through the practice of 108 Sun Salutations. This extended practice will give you the opportunity to reconnect to your earthly body while you surrender to the meditative. Reconnect and mark a season of sunshine and warmth!
